GOLDEN TEMPLE, COORG The Golden Temple or Namdrolling monastery is a beautiful Buddist monasery situated in Bylakuppe and it is the major tourist place in Karanataka. It is the second Largest Tibeatan setlement in Karnataka. This Temple is located at distance of 34 km from Madikeri, 4.5 km from Kushalnagar, 7 kmfrom Cauvery Nisargadama and 87 km from Mysore. The Temple is located around the Tibeaten refugee settlement area. It is established in 1961 when Government of Mysore alloted early 3000 acres of land at Bylakuppe in Mysore district of Karnataka. Later it became a tourist place in Karnataka. Now around 70, 000 of Tibeatens lives there. It will be a good travelling experience through out the settlement.It looks like another Tibet. They live with thier own culture without any restrictions. Main feature of the Golden Temple is its architeture. Several religious schools situated around the Temple. It is a customary to give the first child to the Budha. Different types of tasty Tibetean foods are available in various restaurents in the settlement.
